| Irish
related cigarette cards issued over the past century. This isn't an
exhaustive list and represents only the earlier cards that may have
some value as collectors items. I have excluded the more recent cards
such as those produced by the European tour and to commemorate Ryder
cup events which are probably produced on an annual or bi-annual basis

The
massive Sportscaster set features large full-colour cards including
players from dozens of different sports - some of them very obscure
- among more than 2,000 different subjects, making it one of the biggest
sets of trading cards ever issued. Available by mail subscription
from 1977 through 1979, the Sportscaster cards are large, measuring
4 3/4" x 6 1/4". Subscribers were mailed one series of 24
cards for $1.89 plus postage every month or so. Each card has a series
of icons in the upper-right hand corner to assist collectors in the
various methods of sorting. The backs contain a detailed write up
of the athlete featured. The cards were also sold in several European
countries and can be found with backs printed in French, Swedish and
other languages.
