Married
Eliza a native of County Louth and had four children: Rosey,
Winnie, Lila and Eileen at the time of the 1911 Census.
Henry
Magee was a professional at Portrush in 1895 when he entered
for the first professional golf competition played in Ireland
at that club but was beaten by Hugh Kirkcaldy in the first round.
In 1896 George L. Baillie took him on at Greenore for a one
month trial and it is believed he was kept on as a professional
at the club until c. 1906.
In
1899 he entered the professional championship at Portmarnock
which followed the Irish Amateur championship as a Greenore
representative. In 1902 (20-22 May) he repesented Greenore Golf
Club in a professional tournament played there however didn't
qualify for the matchplay stages which were eventually won by
James Braid who had beaten Vardon and Herd en route.

By
1907 he had taken up an appointment with Bundoran Golf Club
and it is from this club that he entered the inaugural Irish
Professional Championship held in 1907.
In
1908 ( reference included in "Irish Golfer's Guide 1910")
he had taken up a position as professional at Foxrock G.C. and
resided at No. 17 Galloping Green, North (Stillorgan) according
to the 1911 Census.

In
September 1912 the Irish Times noted that Henry was looking
for a position as a professional and noted Bundoran, Foxrock
and Gorey as previous positions held. At this stage he was living
in Dundara, Blackrock, County Dublin.
