Ben
Hogan
Hogan's
great-grandfather left Dublin, Ireland in the 1840-50's and settled
in Mississippi and later moved to Dublin, Texas to work in an
Iron foundry as did his grandfather William Alexander Hogan who
was born in Choctaw County, Mississippi in 1847 and would later
marry Cynthia J. Hogan of Alabama who was four years his elder.
In the 1870's the family treked the 500 miles to Dublin, Texas
and worked as a blacksmith. Chester C. Hogan was born in Dublin
on 2 February 1885 and worked for the family blacksmith business
with a brief interlude bottling Dr. Pepper.
On 13
August 1912 Chester Hogan and Clara Williams gave birth to their
third child and third generation Irish-American William Ben Hogan,
named after their grandfathers.
